                                                         A Life Repaid

A doctor entered the hospital and hurried toward his office to prepare for an important surgery. As he passed through the corridor, he noticed a young boy standing anxiously. The boy quickly approached him.

"Doctor, why are you taking so long?" the boy asked angrily. "Don't you know my father is fighting for his life? Don't you have any sense of responsibility?"

The doctor smiled gently and replied, "My son, I wasn't in the hospital. As soon as I received the call, I came immediately. Now please calm down so I can do my job."

The boy snapped back, "How can I stay calm? What if your own father were in this condition? What if he were dying? Would you still be so relaxed?"

The doctor smiled again and said, "We are all created from dust, and to dust we shall return. A doctor cannot extend someone's life beyond what God has written. Now pray for your father, and I will do my best."

The doctor went into the operating room. After several hours, the surgery was completed successfully. As soon as he came out, he said, "Thank God, your father is out of danger."

Before the boy could ask anything else, the doctor hurried away. "If you have any questions, ask the nurse," he said while leaving.

The boy watched him go and muttered angrily, "How arrogant! He couldn't even spare a few minutes to talk about my father's condition."

Hearing this, a nurse standing nearby began to cry. The boy was surprised and asked, "Why are you crying?"

The nurse replied, "That doctor's only son died yesterday in a road accident. When we called him for your father's surgery, he was at his son's funeral. He left the funeral unfinished, came here, and saved your father's life. Now he has rushed back to complete his son's burial."

The boy stood speechless, overwhelmed with shame and regret.

We should never judge someone before knowing their circumstances. Every person is fighting a battle we know nothing about, and sometimes the sacrifices they make for us are greater than we can imagine.
